Store roles

All our Store based colleagues play a vital part in our team. From Customer Team Member to Store Manager, your focus will be on providing exemplary customer service to the 20 million customers that visit our stores every week. Read about each of our store based roles below to see how you could fit into our team.

Customer Team Member

The key focus for our Customer Team Members is to provide a friendly, knowledgeable and efficient service to customers and colleagues. They take great pride in being positive, flexible and dedicated to working as part of a team, to deliver exceptional customer care to the highest possible standards.

Responsibilities include checkout operations, stock control, replenishment, bake-off, news & magazines, cash handling and acting as an ambassador for the Co-operative values and membership.

Team Leader

Our Team Leaders maintain the store operation by co-ordinating the work of the Customer Team Members. The role of Team Leader is a challenging opportunity to lead and inspire a team in pursuit of excellent customer service, sales, standards and availability of products.

Team Manager

 

Our Team Managers deliver The Co-operative Food customer offer by leading and developing the store teams. Excellent leadership and communication skills are essential, along with a passion for outstanding customer service and exceptional standards.

Working in partnership with the Store Manager, their role is to maximise sales and achieve targets for leakage, personnel and wastage.

If required, Team Managers will also be able to confidently take over the running of a store for short periods of time. In our larger stores, our Team Managers have specific areas of focus, these being Team Manager (Customer Service) and Team Manager (Standards).

Store Manager

Our Store Managers play a key role in driving our business forward in the 21st Century. As a Store Manager, your role is to inspire, train and develop your team to deliver excellence in all areas. As an experienced people manager, your focus will include driving sales, availability and profitability.
