Training

In The Co-operative Motor Group, many of our team, including the Group Manager, have come up through the business, benefitting from our approach to development.

You can be sure that you will have every chance to develop your interests, your skills and your career, whether that is here or elsewhere in the Co-operative Group.

We are a ‘learning organisation’, and that means we develop our people and learn and grow from their experience.  Training is a hugely important part of this. We believe that by developing everyone, we will help to build up the skills, knowledge and experience we need to grow the business. This means that, whoever you are and whatever your role, you will benefit from a real commitment to growing your career, demonstrated by on-the-job and formal training, external courses, regular one-to-one reviews and individual plans based on your needs and ambitions.

This is ongoing. In 2010, we carried out an in-depth review of training needs throughout the business and set about making key changes. A Group Training Manager was appointed, and we established new programmes for our Sales, Aftersales and Administrative teams. The sales team benefitted from one-to-one training, while all Aftersales colleagues in customer-facing roles took part in ‘Delivery in Customer Satisfaction’ in conjunction with Shell UK.

We also rolled out our ‘Putting Customers First’ philosophy, encouraging everyone in the team to work towards the same goal. Last but not least, the re-launch of the Motor Group apprenticeship scheme will also ensure that investment in our people continues to be felt right across the organisation.
