Business Continuity and Programme Office Manager, Retail Logistics
My role currently involves managing the Programme Office and Business Continuity processes for Retail Logistics. Within this role I have to work closely with numerous parties internally within Logistics and also externally within the wider Co-operative businesses. I need to be organized, efficient and have the ability to be forward thinking. As this is a support role it is essential that I react positively to change and remain engaged at all times.
I was attracted to The Co-operative because it is a large established organisation with a strong heritage. I was particularly impressed with its stance on ethical and social issues and the fact that it is owned by its members.
I am aware of the high ethical standards that The Co-operative adheres to and as such I ensure that I don’t do anything to contradict these policies. Through schemes such as ‘Respect Works’ I am now more conscious of how I behave and am open and honest towards other colleagues. In turn, I feel that I am part of a valued and respected team within Logistics and my efforts are recognised.
There is always support and guidance available through various avenues. Within the last 12 months I have been on two Microsoft Project courses, which have had a direct impact on my role and enhanced my skill set. I shall also shortly be starting a Diploma in Logistics and Transport, which is specific to the area I work within and which will greatly improve my knowledge and confidence within this area of business.
I feel that everybody has an important role to play in the success of The Co-operative and that each person is treated fairly and equally. I think that this is a very exciting time to be working here and I look forward to the challenges ahead.
