Store Manager, Ewell, High Street store
Richard joined the Co-operative in 2001, as a part time customer service assistant, and within 6 months was enrolled onto the supervisor training programme, which involved on the job training as well the formal course material. Richard spent a year in the supervisor role before he was identified as key talent and was placed on the SKY management training course, then appointed Duty Manager at the New Addiscombe store.
Richard was appointed Store Manager in 2004 and has successfully managed various stores across the South London area.
He is currently at Ewell, High Street store which was chosen as an Academy store for the training of new store managers commencing the new Co-operative Way programme.
Richard is also acting as a buddy store manager for his Somerfield store manager colleagues, to assist in their knowledge of Co-operative food systems.
Richard cites meeting and greeting customers and training and developing his team as his favourite part of his job.
Richard aspires to be a future operations manager and regularly steps up in his Operation manager’s absence.
