Following widespread research, members told us that the legal industry communicates poorly, uses too much jargon and they are confused about the pricing of services. The Co-operative Legal Services was launched to bring our ethical approach to the market in a service that builds on our values of openness, honesty and trust.

The business has grown rapidly since it's launch in August 2006 and already employs more than 100 people in our offices in Bristol. It is anticipated this team will grow to more than 500 in the next five years. Our services have already been well received by customers and our aim is to be a market leader in providing consumer legal services in the next three years. Right now we are offering legal expenses accident management services, conveyancing, will writing and probate; and in the future we will be offering much more.

We are looking for people with a definite 'can-do' attitude, who want to take ownership and drive their own work. There is a genuine feeling of community at The Co-operative Legal Services, and because it’s a small team, everyone is ready to help and support one another. We have a very open culture, so unlike many other law firms, everyone sits together and works together, including our most senior solitictors.

We are bringing a modern approach to a traditional industry. We’ve even gone so far as to introduce a paper-less office by utilising a new document management system. The training we offer is tailored to each role: for example, the Probate team have been trained to be able to deal with people in distress; while a Legal Advisor will be given legal training. We invest in on-going training and development to ensure our people make the most of their careers.
