Graduate roles

Training, support, involvement and opportunity...and all within a business thats pride in the good work it does for communities everywhere. There is no better place than here to learn your trade and apply your newly acquired skills!

Pre-Registration Programme

Developed by our experienced pharmacists, our 52-week Pre-Registration Programme is fully aligned to the General Pharmaceutical Council’s requirements, and is designed to give you the perfect foundation. As well as supporting you to pass your pre-registration exam, we will also develop your skills as an all-round pharmacist, building up your clinical and management skills, encouraging you to network with other pre-registration students and involving you fully in our pharmacy community. If successful, you will have the chance to move in to a Relief Pharmacist role with us. And from there we will provide you with all the additional training and support that you need to progress to branch manager level and beyond.

Summer Placement

Every year during the summer break we open our doors to give pharmacy students valuable first-hand experience of what life is really like within a community Pharmacy. This is time purely dedicated to your own development, and for the placement you will work alongside the team in one of our branches, dealing with customers, getting involved in the business and applying what you have learned during lectures in the real world. Throughout this placement, you will also have a designated pharmacist mentor and a structured workbook that will help you to get the very best out of your experience.

Recruitment is now underway for the 2012 Summer Placement which will offer a combination of paid and voluntary places to enable a greater number of students to gain access to work experience. There will be a six week paid placement and a four week voluntary placement.

The six-week paid placement is open to third year pharmacy students only and we will offer 20 paid roles across the UK.  During the scheme you will undertake a project to enhance your commercial and managerial skills after which you will present your recommendations to a senior manager within The Co-operative Pharmacy. Successful completion of this assessed project will result in a conditional offer for the 2013 pre-registration scheme in the region where your training was completed.

In addition, we have an additional 80 places for a four- week summer placement on a voluntary basis.  Third year students who are successful in completing this post will automatically be assessed for the 2013 Pre-Registration Programme.
