A business worth working for

Our business
Our values influence the products and services of each of our businesses, showing that quality and value don’t have to come at the expense of honesty and social responsibility.

Our identity
The Co-operative Group is a business, but more than this, it acts together to meet the common needs and aspirations of its members, sharing ownership and making decisions democratically.

Co operatives are not about making big profits for shareholders, but creating value for their members. Our top priority is to provide the best possible services for our members and to invest in the communities where they live. This gives co operatives a unique character and influences what we stand for.

Your rewards & benefits
The contribution our employees make to the success of our businesses is highly valued. These are just some of the rewards and benefits we offer;

· A competitive salary

· A personal holiday entitlement of up to 31 days

· An award winning Pensions Scheme. For the second consecutive year, the scheme was awarded “Premier Scheme of the Year” by Professional Pensions magazine

· An annual “share of the profits” to all our employees who are also members

· Tax & NI advantageous salary sacrifice schemes

· An Employee Assistance Programme, which provides expert help and advice on a wide range of issues

· Significant discounts on products and services across our family of businesses

· A range of voluntary benefit programmes

The Co-operative Legal Services, one of our businesses, also runs a free legal helpline for members covering all legal issues.

We offer discounts on food, travel, pharmacy and funeralcare, as well as free independent financial advice. For example you can get 5% off a holiday or 10% off your weekly food shop. We also have a discount scheme with other retailers, such as TM Lewin and Marriott.

Childcare Vouchers is one of the ways we can make our working parents’ lives easier. The scheme offers real financial benefits, with vouchers allowing you to save up to £1,173* a year on the cost of your childcare. You can also convert - or ‘sacrifice’ - some of your basic pay in exchange for voucher credits, to be held in a special account with our chosen provider.
* depending on the level of income tax and NI contributions you currently pay

If you work at our Head Office in Manchester, there are some great facilities available to you. As well as a sandwich shop and restaurant, you can also make use of a Sports & Social Club with its gym, aerobics studio and sun beds.
