Our history

Over 50 years of outstanding service.

Whilst The Co-operative Group has a history and tradition that dates back to the Rochdale Pioneers of 1844, Sunwin Services has its roots in the Co-operative TV rental and repair business, Co-Rentals, which was established in 1954.

The name 'Sunwin' is taken from the department store, opened in 1932 by the Bradford & District Co-operative, that became known as “Sunwin House”.

When retailers within The Co-operative Group were unable to find a business that could deliver the levels of support they required, it was decided to develop a service in-house. This became the Sunwin Services Group.

Today, The Co-operative Group, part of an organisation that generates over £13 billion in sales and employs over 114,000 people, remains a major customer for Sunwin.
