Our community

Community is very important to us. This is why we exist. So naturally we do everything we can to improve the world around us.

We contributed nearly £7m to the community in the last year – and that figure has been sustained for several years. Some of the main beneficiaries have included the RSPB, Oxfam and Youth Sports organisations as well as Amnesty International and Climate Care. We also support a Charity of the Year. Last year that was Shelter and we donated £1 million. This year it is The Children’s Society.

Our employees have played their part, literally. If you become a member of The Co-operative Group, you can also help run and manage events to tackle key issues and promote a better way of living. One of our five social goals is to encourage children to gain a better understanding of where food comes from and the importance of a balanced diet.
